Southwest is offering 1,000 Rapid Rewards points to members who click through their portal and file their taxes with TurboTax.
This offer, which I received via email today, won’t necessarily blow anyone away but it is worth passing along.
How Much is This Offer Worth?
I value Rapid Rewards points at 1.5 cents each so 1,000 Rapid Rewards points are worth about $15.
Who Is This Deal Good For?
This is a great promo for anyone who:
- Was already planning to use TurboTax
- Is just a small number of Rapid Rewards points short of their goal
An example related to the second bulleted point: If you’re aiming for the Southwest Companion Pass and you have 109,000 of the 110,000 points needed, this would get you across the finish line. Note that points earned through sales like this won’t count towards qualification for A-List or A-List Preferred.
Are Prices Through this Offer Higher Than Otherwise Available?
Some promos that yield frequent flyer points or miles aren’t quite as good as they seem, because the cash price of the good or service is higher than you would otherwise pay. It’s always worth checking the price through other channels separate from the promo. A brief search for TurboTax 2015 rates didn’t yield any better rates for the Deluxe product.
If you find a better offer for TurboTax through other channels, please report it in the comments below.
How Do I Access the Offer?
Head on over to the Southwest Rapid Rewards shopping portal and search for TurboTax, or click this direct link (active as of writing). You’ll have to log in to your Rapid Rewards account to ensure you get the 1,000 points credited.
Another Option to Rack Up Southwest Rapid Rewards Points
If you’re looking for a major bump up to your Rapid Rewards account, consider obtaining the Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier card, which will for a limited time yield you 50,000 Rapid Rewards points if you meet the signup bonus requirement.
