When you think of superb honeymoon destinations, India may not be one of the first locations that come to mind.  Well, Rohit Agarwal of is here to break the news – the world’s seventh largest country is full of splendor and variety.  Prepare to be surprised!

India, being a beautiful and resplendent country with so many attractive and fascinating tourism charms, is an outstanding honeymoon destination. It is gifted with captivating places for the curious traveler, picturesque landscapes, alluring attractions and numerous romantic hideaway spots where couples can enjoy quality time to the fullest.

I’ve narrowed the field down to the ten most beautiful and romantic honeymoon spots in India.  Without further ado, I present you with my list!

1. Andaman & Nicobar Islands

This is probably the most perfect place for a couple to take their first trip together as this beach paradise is like none other! The spectacular sunsets, the scintillating beaches, the adrenaline-gushing water sports, the candle-lit dinners by the beaches, the white sparkling sands and the twinkling lighthouses- all make for a perfect sojourn for couples to make sweet memories that can be treasured for a lifetime.

2. Coorg, Karnataka

Located in South India, this hill station is usually known by the moniker “Scotland of India”. The widespread orange orchards and coffee plantations that it nests gives the couple the feeling of being lost in nowhere on a quaint and serene getaway and is ideal for a cozy honeymoon.

3. Kerala

The unique web of lakes, canals and rivers, the lush green plains, the delectable cuisine and the warm people make Kerala a very inviting destination for honeymoon couples. Be it a cruise in a houseboat on the gentle backwaters or enjoying the wild sea- Kerala has a lot to offer. It has a plethora of sun-kissed beaches, lovely backwaters and dense groves – which make for an exotic environment for the couple to enjoy!

4. Shimla and Manali

This hill station located in the Himalayas is an amazing honeymoon destination which is sure to leave the couple mesmerized. With scenic beauty, picturesque views and an amazing climate, the newlywed couples are sure to remember this trip for their life. Ascending to kufri on a horse and playing with snow is an out of the world experience. Skiing, river rafting and camping are other activities quite common in Simla and Manali.

5. Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is commonly known as “The Princess of Hill Stations” owing to its wonderful beauty. Couples enjoy taking a walk through the wooded forests or bathing in the splashing waterfalls or even cycling or horse riding together around the lake. The cool and misty weather of Kodaikanal makes it a very popular destination for honeymoon couples.

6. Goa

Sea, Sand and Sun – Goa has it all…! Goa is one of the top honeymoon locations not only in India, but all over the world. It is a tropic jewel that nestles towards the south east of India. The balmy beaches of Goa are the favorite of many globetrotters. The shimmering sandy shores, the happening nightlife, the graceful architecture of the Portuguese colonial sites and the coastal cuisine – Goa is equipped to make one fall in love all over again!

7. Ooty

Ooty is a popular choice for many couples to go for their honeymoon.  The Pykara Waterfall, the Botanical Garden and the Ooty Lake are famous attractions in Ooty. The Doddabetta Peak is another major attraction too which couples flock. Ascending the peak and watching the beauty of Nilgiris is breathtaking indeed.

8. Darjeeling

Located in the lower part of Himalayas, Darjeeling is often termed as ‘The Queen of Hills”. The cool climate and open fields of tea plantation make it the perfect spot for honeymoon couples to spend time with each other and enjoy. The snowcapped mountains and huge green fields offer a breathtaking view to the tourists visiting the place.

9. Kashmir

The high snowcapped mountains, the lush valleys, the pristine views and the beautiful weather- all make Kashmir a perfect honeymoon destination. Whether it is taking a Gondola ride and enjoying the panoramic view from 14,000 feet up above, walking up the strawberry valleys in Gulmarg or sailing through the Dal Lake in a “shikara” – Kashmir will definitely etch memories that the couple will cherish for the rest of their lives!

10. Mussoorie

Another quite popular destination where people frequent mostly, Mussoorie makes a perfect honeymoon location for a newlywed couple. A fascinating hill resort having a variety of flora and fauna is the ideal place to a couple to sit back and relax. The Kempty falls and Dhanolti are the most famous picnic spots of Mussoorie.
